“My needs are simple and few, thought Valentine. Food. Clothing.
A comfortable place to sleep. And no idiots.
But of course a world with no idiots would be lonely.
If she herself were even allowed there.”
― Orson Scott Card

We come into contact with a wide range of people in our classrooms on a daily basis. Some of them may prove to be a bit more difficult to handle than others. You may find yourself agitated, under threat or simply annoyed by some of their behaviors. In most cases, cutting off the difficult person from your class is not an option. In these circumstances, you need to know how to deal with each individual while maintaining your own emotional composure.

In this interactive workshop we will work with your own cases and examples of difficult behaviors in the classroom. Together we will take a look at the tools and effective techniques to deal with difficult people and tricky situations and we will explore a number of guidelines to improve your skills and resources which may even help to prevent those unwelcome behaviors.

Workshop Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Know their triggers
  • Identify and use the right mindset when confronting others to minimize the effect of difficult encounters
  • Conduct constructive conversations by staying focused and in control
  • Respond to difficult people/behaviors with confidence and ease
  • Know and use the strategies of emotion management
