Humour is not only a good way of creating a positive and relaxed atmosphere in the classroom. It can also be used to actively support learners in acquiring language skills. The workshop will demonstrate a number of easy-to-prepare, humour-based activities that can be used at various levels to add an extra dimension to classroom work. And the workshop will include one or two examples to put learners and teachers in the mood for the festive season.

Despite having spent many, many years in Germany, Geoff has continued to cultivate his British sense of humour, and in particular has collected a myriad of examples of language-based humour. His teaching experience covers adult, further and higher education, and he regularly attends IATEFL and TESOL Conferences presenting new ideas on EFL. He writes articles for various newsletters, and he offers a biannual ‘jocular journal’ entitled TESTING TIMES, the Christmas 2017 issue of which on the topic of BREXIT was published in the ELTAS Newsletter earlier this year.

After Geoff’s presentation, we will have time to mingle and have pre-Christmas Drinks and to get into the festive mood.
