Who would know? “Yes” means “no”. “No” could mean “ask me again”, and “maybe another day”  means “never”. The labyrinth of cultural nuances in communicating with a culture  different than your own is owed great attention. In this workshop on March 7, Ridha Mejri, of the University of Applied Sciences Worms, engaged us in confronting stereotypes, understanding cultural perspective, and going about the task of learning to work well with those whose social norms differ from our own. While the simple statements above cannot be taken as writ, this workshop lent its participants helpful insight in dealing with Arabs and Muslims in an increasingly globalized community.
