The Eltas Christmas party was held on December 6th. It was a lovely afternoon with funny games, good food, unique presents and lots of laughs!
Eltas and Oxford University Press joined forces for an all-day workshop on grammar themes featuring Michael Swan and Dr. Catherine Walter. The event was held at the beautiful Haus der Wirtschaft. Over 50 people made it despite the train strike!
September 2014
Eltas started off the new semester dramatically with a rousing workshop from Peter Dyer on Drama Methodology which was held on September 20th at the Euroakademie. Participants had great fun unleashing their thespian skills and discovered new ways of encouraging learning (and themselves)!

Committee members also met on September 20th to discuss upcoming events.
July 2014
“Sorry, what did you say?” Evelin Miščin came all the way from Croatia to offer a lively workshop on listening skills. The event was held at our shiny new venue (Euroakademie, Olgastrasse 86) . As usual Eltas members had plenty to say!
Afterwards, some of us had more fun and food at La Piazza.
The Eltas Committee met on July 2nd to discuss plans for upcoming workshops, review finances and keep Eltas on track.

Terry Prowser gave a dynamic presentation on presentations at the joint Eltas/Klett event on May 17th. With good preparation and materials, we can help our learners dispel their “Glossophobia”

This year’s IATEFL was held in Harrogate, UK. Committee members Ingrid Abele and Krystyna Key attended the event and did some networking on behalf of Eltas. Ingrid made the connection to our speaker for our Eltas event in July.

Katrin Beringer and Frances Böttinger represented Eltas at the Interelta in Berlin on March 21 – 22, 2014.
Representatives of the committees from the Elta organizations in Germany met for a lively discussion of current practices and sharing of ideas for future cooperation. One important outcome was improving networking with respect to event planning and website development. An idea for a German-wide survey of Elta member pay rates was discussed and will be organized in the not too distant future by Eltabb.

January 2014
The Annual General Membership meeting (AGM) was held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Euro Akademie Stuttgart.
The 2013 Committee stepped down and a new Eltas committee for 2014 was elected (see Committee page). Michelle Hunter, Chair and Melissa Martin, Vice Chair and Events Co-Coordinator (by proxy) relinquished their posts. Many thanks to them both for their dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to Eltas over the years.
Fortunately, several committee members decided to stay on board to help ensure a smooth transition in 2014.
Krystina Key, former Treasurer, has assumed the role of Chair. Katrin Beringer, former Secretary is now Vice Chair.
Ingrid Abele will continue as Membership Secretary and also serve as Treasurer. Mauline Lawrence will forge ahead as Event Coordinator. She’ll be aided by our new Co-Events Coordinater Andy Yarahmadi. Kevin Lilley has the post of Secretary and Frances Böttinger is Webmaster.
