Today is the second day of the full conference and it is amazing how many sessions are on offer. In each time slot there is always something which attracts my interest.

This year’s facility, the ACC Liverpool and neighboring Jurys Inn Hotel, is a vast improvement over the venue in Brighton last year. The problem is that the IATEFL Conference has got so large (3,000+ attendees) that it is now limited in the venues which can accommodate it

There seem to be a lot of sessions on teacher training/development. I get the impression that this is a serious concern for some in our industry, perhaps for IATEFL itself. Some topics are critical of the state of teacher education in ELT, like “Initial teaching qualifications, guff or golf?”, and others are supportive of what’s on offer, such as “CELTA – much more than a teacher training course” and “Choosing an online teacher development course with confidence”.

I personally am more interested in the use of technology in teaching, so off to the next session. I will keep you posted.
