Join us for a fun-filled afternoon

at our members-only Christmas event!

From 2 – 3 p.m. Michelle Hunter will share ideas on

 Non-digital visual aid hacks

In just 60 minutes, we will explore how to make good use of those traditional, non-digital visual aids in our classroom.

  • Create clear, stimulating flip charts – both before and during class
  • Structure your white board on the go
  • Keep control of a perilous meta board

There will be no need for any computer equipment. We will practise with different types of markers, sticky stuff, cards and images. Be prepared to let your creative side flourish without leaving students having to decipher hieroglyphic notes thrown up in a rush. At the end of the hour, you will have ideas, structures and a short shopping list of essential items to take away with you.

Many of you know me already. For members who joined since last spring, I am a returning ELTAS member having been on a sabbatical for a year. I first joined the group in 2002 and have variously been involved with the committee on and off over the years. My path has evolved since I fell into Business English teaching 16 years ago. Most recently, I have been teaching EAP at Bristol University in the UK. In Germany, I focused on in-company skills training. The importance of tidy, clear and impactful visual aids was impressed on me during a train-the-trainer course I did in 2008-09. For me, it demonstrates professionalism and appreciation for my participants – I want them to get the most from my visual messages and feel valued in the process.

After that it’s party time!

There’ll be good food, fun activities and time to chat and network.

We’re having another Yankee Gift Swap this year so if you’d like to participate, please wrap up something at home that might make a nice gift (e.g a novel, CD, DVD or other “interesting” item that would bring a smile to someone’s face) and bring it along!

We look forward to seeing you there!
